Finally Fall!
Every fall, I would always see instagram pictures envying the changing leaves, orange colors, and cozy vibes of other states like New York.
However, today finally felt like fall(ish)! It was so nice outside that I even sat outside to do homework which was not only super enjoyable because of the sunny and breezy weather but also fun because of the people watching. People say such absurd things when you only hear a fraction of the conversation on one end.
After I decided to sit outside to do homework, I had to find a seat to do work at. I realized after finding one almost immediately that our school has so many areas to study and enjoy nature. It just goes unnoticed by most students like me who are just hurrying by and not looking around.
I have made an effort recently to notice little things I usually take for granted. For example, I am trying to notice all the little things by sister does around the house which helps me get less annoyed at her for not helping me with other things. We have basically lived together our whole life besides her first year at college which was cut short by covid so it was only half a year without her. We have always shared a room(our princess room that our parents will never let us repaint) with my snow white side and her cinderella side. Coming to college, I became her roomie in an off campus house so we are with each other 24/7. We split house chores with me doing the kitchen stuff like dishes, cooking, vacuuming, and table cleaning and her doing the laundry and trash. I love cooking a lot so I don't mind the extra time procrastinating homework with that at all. I also love the idea of farm to table food, so inspired by the farmers market and outdoor experiences I've been having, I have started trying to grow my own herbs. Fingers are crossed tightly for success because I have managed to kill two succulents in the past. Currently, my basil pot is going strong and has been a great addition to tomato basil soup, pesto gnocchi, and a thai basil stir fry!
and now back to the bushes because that was definitely quite a tangent...
On campus, I noticed these bushes I feel like are pretty generic and present at every school campus in Texas at least. In lieu of that, I took a few moments to look at these bushes and took a plant snap. To my surprise, these are a flower bush called Tropicana rose, so in other conditions/time, these bushes would be admired by many which I love. It is a hybrid tea, an informal horticultural classification for a group of garden roses. They were created by cross-breeding two types of roses, initially by hybridising hybrid perpetuals with tea roses. It is the oldest group classified as a modern garden rose.I feel like it is in a way symbolic of human growth and potential because most of the work put into personal growth goes unnoticed. True growth only comes when you do it without expectation of admiration or appreciation. I now pass these bushes on campus all the time with more appreciation for their beauty and will never call them basic again:)
